Eco Fuels were delighted to be selected through a formal tendering process to another Midlands Based Estate. The owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, engaged a firm of local architects and national surveyors Savills to formulate the tender, apply for planning and ensure compliance in this large listed building.

The scope of works were to provide heat to an old existing heating system, expand heating to previously unheated parts, and provide an alternative heating solution to electrical heaters used in the Estate offices.

Eco Fuels were selected due to being able to provide a bespoke solution matched to the needs of the customer, and using existing buildings. The project was sensitive to the building; for example utilising existing apertures to reduce the impact of the flue.  We also designed a bespoke buffer tank which would allow the plant room to occupy a previously unused space, and negate the requirement to create additional wider apertures in the listed building structure.

The Estate has a significant amount of forestry, which is currently not part of a tructured management plan.  The Estate has an opportunity to become 100% own source dependent in future.

The heating solution incorporated a new Schmid wood chip boiler and bespoke buffer tank.  The heat is distributed to 3 separate circuits some sealed, some open vented using a series of Heat Interface Units, including a 200kW bespoke HIU using dynamic flow and temperature control to optimise efficiency.

An electronic thermostatic controller is used to allow the client to choose the temperature of the heating water, independent of the buffer tank, so that the boiler can be operated within its maximum efficiency temperature window independent of the temperature required in the heating circuits.

The boiler is linked to the internet through an in house designed secure communcations module to allow e-mailing of boiler alerts and remote monitoring and troubleshooting.

We are delighted to have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the Client, the Architect and Savills.
